The 55-year-old is now not only president and vice chairman, he’s chief operating officer, too. Moreover, Poussot was named to the drugmaker’s board, which expanded to 13 members, as a result.
This move puts the tall and lean Frenchman squarely in line to succeed Bob Essner, who himself was promoted to ceo in 2001. Like Essner, Poussot is a Wyeth veteran. He joined in 1986 and has run all the key operations at one time or another.
