France Says “Oui!’ To Gardasil

“We will subsidize it. Why? Because it’s a major step towards improving the health of the public,” France’s health minister, Xavier Bertrand, told radio station Europe 1.
“We have already got the process under way and before the end of the first half of 2007, before July, it will be subsidized,” he said, according to Reuters.
No word on whether Merck or Sanofi-Aventis, which formed a joint venture to market Gardasil in Europe, have any special ties to the French health ministry.
