Is it possible that the virus called ‘No Free Lunch’ is catching on elsewhere?
India’s Organization of Pharmaceutical Producers is about to implement a new voluntary ‘code’ that will trips and goodies given by drugmakers to doctors. The fast-growing nation’s drugmakers already spend about 5 percent of their sales on such life-saving activities (you can read a little more here).
This sounds familiar. A voluntary police effort designed to look good even if it may inhibit prescribing activity. Unlikely to have much impact. But if they can make it work, well, rupee for them.
