“It is important for us to find and design a pathway to deal with” the science of generic biololgics, he tells Bloomberg News, in his latest press-the-flesh-with-the-press sitdown. But he predicted the complex drugs will need to be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and “there won’t be a simple formula” to cover all circumstances.
Lesiglative action may be premature, he adds. Tell it to Henry Waxman or Express Scripts. Or the Senate Finance Committee, which holds hearings on Thursday. By rejecting the legislative pathway, Andy is aligning himself with industry. But former FDA commish Mark McClellan says legislation is here to stay.
Does he know something Andy doesn’t? And if so, why doesn’t Andy know?
