FDA Commish: We’re Still Wimpy

From an interview with Andy von Eschenbach that ran today in The Star-Ledger of New Jersey:
The Ledger’s Robert Cohen: “Has the FDA gotten tougher or changed the way it reviews new drugs since the popular painkiller Vioxx was pulled off the market in 2004?”
Andy: “I can’t say that has been the case. .. From what I have seen … the process and the procedures that are in place and that have been followed with regard to the new drug approval process, there has been a rigor and discipline and integrity associated with that. I can’t see or say that somehow or other that has been radically changed.”
