Merck Sales Reps: We Love Surprises

Well, they don’t mind the boss showing up unexpectedly, anyway. A new poll on CafePharma, web site to the sample brigade, finds that most Merck reps aren’t bothered when their managers unexpectedly decide to accompany them on their rounds to see doctors.
Question: Do you mind surprise field visits?
- I could care less. I do the same job regardless and don’t believe in the dog and pony show.
- Managers that do this are rude and unprepared.
So far, of 92 voters, 64 percent say surprises are okay. Says one rep: “…..I have to agree that I think the ones mostly pissed about this are the ones not working….If my boss wants to pay a surprise visit on my (sic), I say come on and do it.”
If nothing else, the manager can help by carrying in all those lunches.
