This is what the Republican senator from Utah, who was speaking at a hearing today, had to say about proposed legislation that would permit generic biologics:
“I can’t support it..I don’t think it provides the safety that we should have. Patient safety, it seems to me, would be a problem because the legislation does not require any clinical trials on these products as they move through the pipeline.”

If I felt our legislators were REALLY concerned about patient safety, instead of merely smoothing a path for already-bloated pharma patent holders, I would be truly heartened. NOT!
