Female Sexual Dysfunction Is Hot

Sounds like an oxymoron, but not to Palatin Technologies, which is developing a pill that is designed to foment arousal. Called bremelanotid, this is what it does for girlie rats:
Studies found the compound prompted them to wiggle their ears, hop excitedly, rub noses with males and otherwise display unmistakable hallmarks of rodent arousal. But the females responded only under laboratory conditions where they could maintain a sense of control over the mating game. Take away the female’s opportunity to escape or proceed at her preferred pace, and no amount of bremelanotide would get those ears to wiggle.
In other words, “this doesn’t look like a potential date-rape drug,” Annette Shadiack, Palatin’s biological research director, tells The New York Times.
Here’s what it did for postmenopausal women: 73 percent reported feeling aroused, compared with 23 percent on a placebo; and 43 percent of the bremelanotide group said the pill enhanced sexual desire, versus 19 percent on dummy pills. Women in the treatment group also were slightly more likely to have sex with their partners during the course of the trial than those on placebo, although who initiated the romps was not specified.
Who says pharmaceuticals are all risk and no reward?

You will always get more BEES with HONEY,than you will with Vinegar.Pills inducing romance is so over rated.Id rather be wined and dined! The old fashion way.
Stephanie the Bremelanotide Girl :-)
Hi !
I’ve been following Bremelanotide since back when I heard about those rat experiments you mentioned.
It’s primarily being tested via a nasal mist, which will probably be how the finished product is packaged too (like “Dristan”, for instance) so that will make ‘date rape drug’ scenarios VERY unlikely… although, as you say, there’s no chance this drug alone would get a woman to sleep with a guy she wouldn’t normally be with…
It makes you horny, not crazy! LOL
And regarding the previous comment, I agree that arousal shouldn’t only come out of a bottle, but keep in mind the actual research is being done to treat men with erectile dysfunction and women with female arousal disorder (sometimes due to cancer treatments etc).
So aside from the ‘party drug’ aspect that some people are concerned about, there is a very real and legitimate (and desperately sought!) use for Bremelanotide too.
So thanks for the article and bringing more attention to this great upcoming treatment! :)

In my research, Oxytocin (aka the ‘Love Hormone’) is the drug of choice especially when it comes to Sexual Arousal.
Both medical journals and history suggest women actually have an Oxytocin ‘button’ if you will, better known as ‘Nipple Stimulation’. Both Medical Journal’s & history, state it is the first line of defense in bringing on child labor, lactation, and sexual arousal primarily as well as other states of well being such as stress relief. In all of these ’states of being’, nipple stimulation is recommended in order to start the body’s natural production of Oxytocin, which in turn starts contractions, the production of milk and sexual arousal.
The general populous tends to think of nipple stimulation as a direct correlation to sexual arousal *only*. To suggest to a woman she stimulate her nipples is rather hard in most cases, simply because her mind is on the primary task at hand (child labor, lactation & sexual arousal - the later, especially in long-term relationships).
While drug companies have created a synthetic oxytocin primarily used to induce labor via IV, it should be noted that it has to be a constant feed. Once disconnected, the synthetic oxytocin fades away fairly quickly.
In pursuit of a woman’s version of Viagra, one pharmaceutical company is trying to create an inhaled version of synthetic oxytocin. Here again they are finding that while it does create a sense of trust, bonding and sexual arousal, testing on both men and women indicates it is still short lived - because it is synthetic and not constant.
Researching this phenomenal peptide hormone (Oxytocin) shows women can produce higher amounts of Oxytocin and reap longer lasting benefits from this natural production. While men tend to get an Oxytocin spike during intercourse, it is believed that the testosterone release alone makes them more content, and the Oxytocin spike maybe diluted by the male hormones.
God’s gift to (most) women, our nipples. An Oxytocin ‘button’ if you will. The key is the stimulation of these ‘buttons’. Of course there are several ways this can be accomplished using fingers, licking, sucking, etc.
Since the beginning of time, women have worn jewelry (for one thing) both to feel sexy and to attract the opposite sex. The FDA has recently approved a pliable decorative breast acupressure device (no needles) for sexual arousal. The wearer has 100% control of the size and the tension, leaving the hands free and the mind to blissfully wander.
Rekindling sexual desire does not have to be drug related.

When children and adolescents have access to drugs like these, they ‘do’ become a ‘party drug’.Pharma parties are increasing at a very dangerous rate.

Cals philosophy is more appealing.
Stephanie (again)
While I agree with most of what “Cal” said, and conveniently her indicated website sells the very product she mentions at the end !!
However one caveat to my agreement is that not EVERY women enjoys having her nipples manipulated by her partner, so they’d have to get their daily allotment of Oxytocin through sex and cuddling.
Also re: “one pharmaceutical company is trying to create an inhaled version of synthetic oxytocin… it does create a sense of trust, bonding and sexual arousal”
I think that drug would be more “dangerous” as a party drug than Bremelanotide would be… Brem just makes someone aroused. But this synthetic oxytocin adds an artificial “trust and bonding” to the mix.
I’d prefer to be horny with my natural levels of l “trust” in my body than have a drug artificially boost them.
And as far as party drugs go, Brem would be nothing to worry about imo. Seeing a hot gal or guy on the dance floor already makes people aroused - this stuff isn’t going to make someone insanely so. :-)
Just my 2 cents.

I would rather be wined and dined too. I don’t need a drug to feel horny. In fact, I’m sick and tired of these boys who only make $60,000-75,000 a year. I need a real man who can treat me the way a woman should be treated. The only way a drug is going to make me horny is if it’s made by Gucci, Prada, Fendi, or Diesel. Or maybe if it comes free with my new pair of shoes.
