Novartis Reps: ‘We’re Outta Here!’

The latest periodic temperature reading on CafePharma, where overheated sales reps love to vent, indicates Novartis (and Ciba) folks are antsy. However, this is only a preliminary finding. The polls have been open just one week and this reflects voting from just 26 reps.

So far, though, the sentiment is in favor of hitting the road, but not to visit the doc:

As of today, 42 percent want to leave and are interviewing;
Another 23 percent are unhappy;
Nearly 8 percent are contemplating departure,
And the rest - 27 percent - say they’re happy and content.

Not clear to what extent, if any, Galvus and Zelnorm are factors.

  1. A rep once told me they treat you lkie criminal before they hire you and then make you criminal once you work for them. I think people are just tired of the subtle off label detals they are asked to do. Many time we are asked to use unapproved materials as the AZ fiasco shows recently. To the company it’s just inside baseball, we all do it so get over it. We end up with managers who are driven mad by unrealistic goals ,mixed with greed is very volatile. Many of us just wanted to actually sell the product the right way with scientific evidence to back it up. We do understand the dynamics but do not understand the need to be unethical. This may sound simplistic but it really is this simple. The benefit for these companies doing the wrong thing definitely outweighs the risk. In the case of Serono who was banned from government reimbursements found the solution by changing their name and ultimately finding a buyer. They never really suffered as the drug Serostim was never a blockbuster and their fertility drug was unaffected.

  2. JS must be also an insider. What he is saying and I know it too that the big pharma makes the misconduct (catch word for all the illegal, unethical etc activity) part of their overall MO. This is done with plan, deliberately and with caluculation that they will not be caught. If yes, they will pay thier fines and reinvent the miscnduct. Poor reps are indoctrinated into the mob like mentality, gradually but with purose. By the time they know it their own big pharma “make you into criminall” and you either take it or leave. To my knowledge no big pharma anywhere is using ONLY legal MO. If they did they could not compete with the others who do use both, legal and misconduct.
    That is the reality of the BIGPHARMALAND.
