Erectile Dysfunction Test: ‘One Is Tofu’

Hot to sell more Viagra, Pfizer is pushing a new diagnostic tool it calls an Erectile Hardness Score, and at the product launch in Singapore this week, a Pfizer exec reveals that an estimated 20 percent of Asian men suffer from erectile dysfunction.
“It is a prevalent issue,” says Jude Selvaraj, Pfizer’s medical adviser in Singapore and Malaysia, who is quite eager for men to measure themselves.
The drugmaker’s new EHS grades erections from one to four, in hopes of providing a guide for assessing sexual status. For instance, a score of four means the penis is completely rigid while a score of one means it is larger but not hard.
Victoria Lehmann, a sex therapist from the UK who was on hand to sway the crowd, used more evocative language to make the point: A score of one is like tofu, while four is similar to a cucumber.
