A Quick End To Premature Ejaculation?

premature.jpgThe precise ratio hasn’t been divulged, but a Phase IIa proof of concept study involving an inhaler suggests one toke can mean many more strokes.

Vectura, a drug developer based in the UK, is boasting about a potential breakthrough for treating the frustrating sexual dysfunction, which supposedly affects 30 per cent of men at some time in their life. By inhaling Vectura’s Aspirair, patients demonstrated a clinical effect within 15 minutes of dosing and an improvement in the time it took for ejaculation within the vagina, known as intravaginal ejaculatory latency time (or, “IVELT wonderful”).

The drug doesn’t have to be inhaled six hours before an encounter, which gives it a leg up - so to speak - over treatment in a pill form. And Ventura is confident its dry-power inhaler is easy to use and a decent size compared with other inhalers (in other words, it shouldn’t remind anyone of a bong).

The dry powder inhaler works by generating an aerosol plume, triggered by a patient’s inhalation. A key ingredient is VR776, a proprietary formulation of a centrally-acting undisclosed drug which works in the brain to delay ejaculation.

Bad puns aside, this is a potentially huge market. After all, the device will likely be seen as a desirable tool for longer lasting moments, just as Viagra was instantly recognized as a party drug, not just a med for erectile dysfunction. Not surprisingly, Ventura is working on a device for that problem, too.
