Well, if it is true that Avandia is the new Vioxx, then the lawsuits can’t be far behind, isn’t that right?
Just to make sure there’s no doubt, a conference is now planned for lawyers who want to file suit against Glaxo. Mealey’s, which has made an industry out of such events, is sending e-mails to interested litigators willing to pay $695 to attend a one-day tutorial in Chicago on July 13.
The host is Vance Andrus, a Louisiana lawyer who is a well-known name among the plaintiffs’ bar - he regularly hosts these conferences and has been involved in fen-phen, Baycol and Vioxx litigation. The note promises lawyers will learn everything they need to know, starting with:
- Avandia timeline, events and background;
- FDA: purpose, operations, and regulatory activities with Avandia;
- science and medicine behind Avandia and its side effects;
- liability issues with Avandia;
- defense issues with Avandia;
- Avandia case selection and evaluation.
This is expected to be so popular that Mealey’s isn’t offering any discounts!
