Two days ago, we asked you whether such a deal was more or less likely now that two things happened - Bristol-Myers Squibb was taken off probation by the US Attorney in New Jersey, and an FDA advisory panel refused to recommend the Acomplia diet pill for approval over safety concerns.
These events quickly renewed speculation of a merger, especially when the Acomplia rejection wiped out more than $8 billion in Sanofi stock value in one day. And so what was the verdict? A close call, in fact. Of 47 voters, a slight majority predicted a deal….
Yes - 25 votes, or 53 percent;
No - 22 votes, or 47 percent.
This hardly proves anything, but it’s fun to speculate still more, yes? Keep an eye out for more polls in the future.
