Earlier this week, news broke that Abbott had filed a lawsuit against Act Up-Paris because the activist group protested the company’s patent row with Thailand by organizing an attack on Abbott’s web site. Act-Up Paris faces a fine up to $100,000 if it loses the suit and could be disbanded. The drugmaker says its lawsuit is justified because the cyber attack interrupted business activities and, by doing so, violated the French penal code.
So we asked you - was Abbott correct to have filed a lawsuit? Here are the results:
No - 67 votes, or 68 percent;
Yes - 32 votes or 32 percent.
This is far from definitive, but it does suggest that Abbott may want to revisit its public relations strategy, assuming one exists.
