AvandiaGate: Waxman Hearing Wednesday

As threatened, Henry Waxman and the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee will hold a hearing at 10 am in Room 2154 of the Rayburn building. What better way to spend a steamy June morning in Washington, DC? Here’s the witness list…
· Andy von Eschenbach: FDA chief and self-professed collaborator;
· Steve Nissen: drugslayer and the man Scott Gottlieb loves to hate;
· Bruce Psaty, University of Washington epidemiologist and FDA critic;
· Moncef Slaoui, who heads Glaxo’s R&D;
· John Buse, upcoming American Diabetes Association prez who criticized Avandia years ago (but also predicted Rezulin would be the safest drug in its class).
This promises to be a good show. Get there early. Bring plenty of water.

Re: John Buse–looks to me like he’s batting .500, just the type of fellow to perform as quasi-CEO or a quasi-corp.
