Earlier this week, we wrote how Pfizer is investigating allegations that its own HIV division encouraged sales reps to improperly promote Viracept, an aging AIDS drug, with unapproved detailing and training materials. The charges, made by a sales rep who provided documentation and now claims retailiation, also involve improper use of CME funds.
This is a complicated tale, but tomorrow morning, we will attempt to illustrate how this occurred and, in the process, peel the back curtain a wee bit on the slippery and often confusing behind-the-scenes world of continuing medical education.
