At Wyeth, Cathy Kerzner, 49, has been named senior vp and general manager of the Women’s Health Care unit, which means she’ll lead the commercial aspects of Wyeth’s portfolio on a global basis, reporting to Joe Mahady, the global businesses president, according to PharmaLive.

This is a return engagement for Kerzner, who previously spent 14 years with Wyeth and was vp for business strategy before leaving to become vp of commercial strategy for Cardinal Health. She then founded EKR Therapeutics, a start-up specialty pharma that she left recently.

Meanwhile, Wyeth also announced that Mike Dey, 56, assumes the role of president, scientific affairs for Women’s Health. In this new position, Dey will focus on efforts to advance the understanding of the science that supports both new and existing Wyeth women’s health care products, and continue reporting to Mahady.

And over in Romania, Marius Savu, the Lilly general manager, intends to leave to start his own business Ziarul Financia reports. At the moment, Savu is considering going into pharmaceutical consulting services and the private medical sector. “I want to invest in a private medical centre, but I have made no definite steps in this direction. The private medical system is set to witness a sustained growth in the coming period, which will largely depend on legislation,” he says.

As yet, Eli Lilly has not appointed a successor to Savu, who was selected to head Eli Lilly Romania in 1992. Savu’s departure comes as several other major players on the Romanian market have announced top management changes over the past few years. Last year, Regis Lhomme left Pfizer Romania, and earlier this year, Glaxo announced that David Lechleiter would replace Roberto Musneci as general manager.
