For those who are unfamiliar with the term, this is another way of saying corporate spying, although the practitioners do object to the description. Nonetheless, as in every industry, learning what the competition is doing is of utmost importance, particularly in pharma, where research is a closely guarded trade secret. In this video, Doug Melnick, a former pharma employee, tells how drugmakers gather info while staying within the law. Melnick, a preventive medicine physician, is a consultant to PharmedOut, an independent project funded by the Attorney General Consumer and Prescriber Education Grant Program.
