Any medical procedure that carries with it the risk of injury or death should be the choice of the patient or the patient's guardian. The choice to vaccinate or not to vaccinate should be based on informed consent. Take a look at the new website for the NJ Coalition for Vaccination Choice http://njvaccinationchoice.org to learn more or get involved in getting this legislation passed in NJ.

Nathan,

Both of my children are in College, and both have received "ALL" Vaccines required for school!!! With that said it was a Medical decision I made as a Parent. It is not my place, or the place of our Elected Officials, or even you, to make Medical decisions on behalf of others.

And I have, in the past year received a tetanus shot, and on the other hand, have declined to get a flu shot. But more importantly, it was "MY DECISION", and not a decision made by others.

As far as the Statehouse is concerned, it was very busy due to 3 major issues being discussed, the Death Penalty, Family leave, and the Vaccine. If you were a NJ Resident, you would have known that....

My gripe with this isn't about vaccines. It's about having politicians make my medical decisions. Vaccinations, or any medical decision, is between me and my doctor, not me and my Congressman!
Politicians can't even get their own house in order(especially here in NJ), yet they want to come into mine...I don't think so!

Do you two seriously not want your kids vaccinated? I can maybe understand not wanting a flu vaccine mandated, since the flu generally isn't life-threatening for relatively healthy kids. But other vaccines?
Maybe they should send all these vaccine-free kids to a special "incubator" school where they can be free to get and spread whatever diseases they'd like.

If you don't want your kids vaccinated, fine. But you better plan on home schooling them and keeping them the hell away from my kids!

By the way, Lisa, are you sure that the crowd at the statehouse wasn't for the death penalty issue that was being debated in NJ yesterday? I find it hard to believe that there are huge crowds of nutcases that don't want to vaccinate thier kids....

In a way that's hopeful, in a way it's not. A crowd that size should have made news headlines around the world and we've seen very little coverage of it.

Lisa, do tell? Could you describe the details, who was there?

The flu shot required at six months? Oh, the horror. Maybe they should just hand out packs of adult diapers with each dose, since a certain percentage of flu vaccinated children may be wearing them at 25, particularly if their mothers received flu shots in pregancy. New Jersey should prepare itself for a welfare crisis the likes of which the world has never known.

Most flu vaccines have mercury and the supposedly free shots often have trace, which has not been officially quantified nor proven safe. The usual tag line that 25 mcg is no more mercury than in a can of tuna fish is a lie: factoring the weight of a newborn, 25 mcg of mercury administered intravenously would be comparable to between 1,100 and 1,400 cans of tuna in one day. For a six month old, this would still be the equivalent of several hundred cans. Most forms of the menningococcal have hg as well- just to catch those older children who weren't quite impaired enough for the first few blows, since some children have regressed into autism as late as four and five years of age.

Despite the conception that England's vaccines are mercury free, when flu shot (with the full 25 mcg of hg or more, if the dose is taken from the bottom of a multidose vial) uptake increased for pregnant women and infants, their autism rates spiked at 1 in about 16 boys a few years later.

There may be multiple triggers for the disorder, but every study supposedly debunking the mercury connection has been found to be- to this day- riddled with flaws and COIs. Something to consider.
