Despite the downsizing, there is movement. Here are some of the latest changes. Recognize anyone?
Covance promoted Wendel Barr to chief operating officer;
Pacira Pharma hired Dave Stack as ceo, prez and board member;
AstraZeneca named Penny Stoker as vp, global human resources services;
Merck added Harry Jacobson, a Vanderbilt University vice chancellor, to its board;
Anavex Life Sciences added J&J exec Cameron Durrant to its board;
Cephalon named Alan Bronnenberg director of medical education;
SGX Pharma added Joe Turner to its board;
Nastech Pharmaceutical named Gordon Brandt as president;
Alnylam named Barry Greene president and chief operating officer;
Arena added Phil Schneider and Randall Woods to its board;
Quintiles promoted John Goodacre to exec vp and general counsel;
PPD hired Philip Mathew as director of strategic development;
Parexel named Charles Stevens as vp and general mgr of health policy and strategic reimbursement;
Wyeth named John Neylan III as vice president of scientific affairs, transplantation;
Wyeth also tapped Dave Wu as asst. vp, multi-therapeutic area head of infectious disease/transplant immunology.
