hotel-breakfast.jpgAnother informative meeting with an industry type kept us busy this morning, and so here are a few stray items that popped up while we were occupied. Hope your day is running smoothly…

sanofi.jpgSanofi-Aventis plans to eliminate 380 sales and marketing jobs in Germany, one-fifth of the total, because of difficult market conditions, Thomson Financial reports. The drugmaker currently employs 1,900 sales and marketing personnel in Germany out of a workforce of 10,000. The cuts will be made through a voluntary departure plan and retirements, a spokesperson says, citing difficulties in obtaining reimbursements, competition from generic drugs, and falling prices as reasons for the cutback.

requip-2.jpgSkyePharma says the FDA delayed final approval of Requip XL, a once-a-day Parkinson’s disease drug, Bloomberg News writes. The agency is now expected to make a decision in the second quarter of this year. In December, Glaxo noted that FDA needed more info and disagreed with the labeling, but didn’t seek additional data.

forsale.jpgTrimeris’ largest investor is redoubling efforts to force the drugmaker to put itself up for sale, The Charlotte News & Observer reports. Although Trimeris announced in December it would halt R&D and evaluate options for boosting its stock price, HealthCor wants the company to move faster and is seeking two board seats.
