This is shaping up to be a big week for job cuts - Sanofi-Aventis will eliminate 800 reps in France, Glaxo is axing at least 350 researchers in the US and Schering-Plough is about to layoff a clump of employees.
Now, Mylan is doing the same. The generic drugmaker is eliminating 100 jobs at a plant in the city of Caguas in central Puerto Rico, although the company refuses to say how many people will actually be laid off, the Associated Press reports. The plant employs about 500 people.
Mylan had announced in February that jobs would be eliminated jobs at five locations as part of a companywide restructuring. By taking this move, Mylan joins Glaxo and Bristol-Myers Squibb in eliminating more than 3,000 pharma jobs in Puerto Rico over the past two years.
