Roger Clemens: The New Viagra Pitchman?

Apparently, Roger stashed the clearly marked, diamond-shaped pills in a GNC vitamin bottle in his locker at Yankee Stadium, according to The New York Daily News. Why did he hide them? Maybe to fend off the “inevitable wisecracks,” the paper speculates.
“All my athletes took it,” Victor Conte, who founded BALCO, or Bay Area Lab Cooperative, which was caught up in the Barry Bonds scandal, tells the News. “It’s bigger than creatine. It’s the biggest product in nutritional supplements.”
This could be a big plus for Pfizer. Never mind that Roger’s credibility is in doubt over his alleged use of steroids. He remains widely admired and millions are likely to emulate his single-minded efforts to achieve his goals. Roger, after all, isn’t the only one who could use a lift.

Considering all the hoopla about Jarvik endorsing Pfizer’s Lipitor (a hoopla I, frankly, didn’t understand), I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for Pfizer to seek him out as a pitch man.
And all kidding aside, why would Clemens even need Viagra? Most in shape 40 year olds won’t have ED. Is there an off-label, performance enhancing aspect of the drug I don’t know about?

Hi Jack2,
Actually, you’re correct. The performance enhancing aspect is what made Viagra popular with so many men, of all ages, from the get-go. In fact, the notion of a new type of Saturday Night special was examined even before the launch. As for Clemens, he may be in good shape, but maybe he sees meds as a way to take him still further than he could without them. A familiar concept, yes?
Cheers

Ed,
I think E plus Viagra is a hot combo for young men out on the town. I had a counterpart have a doctor offer to prescribe him Zoloft (often delays ejaculation) plus Viagra. His lewd comment to my friend is unprintable!

They need to get Wade Boggs the sex addict!

I simply cannot believe that you guys are lowering yourselves to boner jokes. Can’t anybody treat this subject with the maturity that flacid pitchers deserve?
