Such numbers are not as large as what we have seen from other drugmakers, such as Merck and Wyeth, which are each eliminating about 1,200 reps in the US, but Sanofi is France’s biggest drugmaker, so the impact is both large and symbolic. The drugmaker has a sales staff in France of about 2,200, and the layoffs was leaked to Les Echos by labor unions, according to Bloomberg News.
