Ah, the dirty little secret of simvastatin's drug-drug interaction potential raises its ugly head once more! You see, back in the early days of the statin wars, there was quite a bit of talk about CYP4503A4 metabolism and how lovastatin and simvastatin were dependent on that pathway. This raised issues related to potential issues with the co-administartion of simvastatin with fibrates, cyclosporin and several other drugs. More recently, there were publications about simvastatin and clopidogrel. Now, it seems there is another drug to add to the list. More of a problem is that some other statins, such as pravastatin, fluvastatin and atorvastatin don't have the same dependence. Seems like one more reason to think twice about Vytorin!

Does Merck and FDA really know how many medicatins used with statins may cause Rhbadomyolysis? And sometimes it does not matter the quantity the Dose. Statins are ocausing kidney problems that doctors are not reporting. It is time the people come before the greed of coproprate world and the politicians. The ingredigents in all medications have toxic effects and doctors and Pharmaceuticals should realize every one has different reactions to these toxic chemicals--- that are in medications, food, cosmetics, health products, shampoos, tootpaste. Our Society does not value the human life.

Appears to be another knife in the heart of Schering-plough and Merck! First, Vytorin fails to impact the progression of atherosclerosis. next, it fails to reduce primary endpoint events in the SEAS trial. BTW, there was that cancer thing as well in SEAS. Although it really wasn't a thing because SP and Merck tell us it's an anomaly. Now, there are dangerous side-effects with the main component in Vytorin, simvastatin, that is the part of it taht's been shown to be effective. They simply can't win in this cholesterol game. Sales off 30%, 40%, 50% by the end of the year? Who knows, but the valley keeps getting lower and lower. Of course, SP always has that new anesthesia drug. Oh wait, the FDA didn't approve it because it's worried about hypersensitivity reactions. Sorry about your bad luck, SP. Dare one say that it's well-deserved for the way you've behaved? Absolutley!!!!
