Pharmalot… Pharmalittle… Vacation Time

will-returnAnd so, Pharmalot friends, we are taking a much-needed break. This is, after all, a time of year when so many are on vacation already, or about to embark on one. And we are no different. We promised Mrs. Pharmalot that an excursion was in order and we are keeping our word.

What does this mean for you? Well, this site is a different kind of animal - there is no back-up. As a result, there will not be any posts until we return in 10 days. We recognize this robs you of your addiction, but we trust not for so long that you won’t come back to visit. Meanwhile, for those of you who have interesting ideas, exclusive tidbits and assorted urgent matters, we will be checking e-mail and answering our phone. Just try to be judicious about calling.

In the interim, we hope you enjoy the summer, whatever you do, and want to thank you for all the interest and support you have shown. As much as we look forward to vacation, we also look forward to seeing you again shortly. You make Pharmalot a fun destination for us, as well. See you soon…

  1. Ed,
Enjoy your well deserved break! And all the best to your family as you enjoy your downtime.
    Cheers

  2. Ed,
Enjoy your vacation…you definitely deserve it!

  3. Have a great time!

  4. Have a wonderful vacation and don’t even pick up your cell phone. No lap-top either. We shall hang in there, pending your return.

  5. Have a great one, Ed and fam. We’ll be here having food fights and stuff.

    The usual

  6. have fun!

  7. Ed – Wishing you, Mrs. Pharmalot, and the little Pharmalots a wonderful vacation. Havealot of fun!

  8. Ed, a vacation means not looking at a computer or a blackberry. The Silverman’s have their Dad back……………..aaahhh

  9. I’m checking in Betty Ford’s to cope.

    Enjoy

  10. WHAT WILL LISA DO?!?!?!!

Way to just think about yourself.

And I am with Ger - no computer on vacation. The world will still be here when you get back, really it will.

  11. We’ll miss you — but your family will certainly cherish your undivided attention.

    Great fun!

And, with any luck, you’ll be able to forget about this place — and the Star-Ledger’s owners (Boo! Hiss!) — for a good chunk of the time:

Do come back “tan, rested and ready. . . .”

    Namaste

  12. Bob - Sorry, I’m also on vacation. But I will refer you on to Tricia Nixon. Be nice.

    Bets

  13. My hands are already shaking.

  14. Ed, have a great time. But I thought your blog was your vacation!

  15. Ed,
Thanks for all your efforts - enjoy!

  16. M. Scott,.. Ahhh, dont worry about me. I will be quite busy overseeing some construction and will be quite busy for the next several weeks,.. thanks for thinking of me.

  17. Ed, enjoy!

  18. Your deciples. No argument. Refreshing.

    Dan

  19. Given that we have free time on our hands this week, maybe we should do something to ensure that Pharmalot will not be cut from the Star budget.

    Ideas?
What about selling advertising on Pharmalot to trial attorneys and white collar defense?

    Anyone else?

  20. Only 3 days so far~ I’m not gonna make it.
No one can refill my Pharmalot prescription.

I do hope you’re having a wonderful time, Silvermans. I am taking this time to try to kick a few bad habits that coincide with sitting at my computer. It’s like lent or something.

  21. We could start a pool to predict when during his vacation Ed can’t stand it anymore and posts a story. Something tells me he’s broken out in a cold, clammy sweat, not to mention his short people are driving him to distraction.

I’ve got dibs on Thursday night 10 PM, EDT.

  22. Bob - I take it you haven’t called Tricia yet. Please, face this head on. There is no sense in denying.

As for raising money for Pharmalot, I suggest rum-flavored Girl Scout Cookies.

    Bets

  23. I’ve got it! A fundraiser based on a Preemptors v. Anti-preemptors softball game.

Actually, a series of games, played in different states. We can visit various “judicial hellholes” and see if the results turn out differently. We can play on both federal and state fields and compare the outcomes. We can see if anyone plays trivially or with outmost commitment. We can see if the first-base umpire second-guesses the homeplate umpire on whether a batter actually came around? (And, of course, whether the first-base umpire is pre-umpted.)

And if it turns out there are different scores in different states, we can see if we, as a species, dissolve into chaos.

    Who’s on first?

  24. Justice,

Do you want to be on first?

  25. JiM,
One problem that I can see. Sometime when certain folks are losing a game they like to make up new rules to change the results. I think we might have that problem here.

  26. Jaynesday - That’s only a problem it they appoint the Commissioner and the Commissioner’s boss, give the umps lifetime jobs, and buy the fields, balls, bats, gloves….

    I see what you mean.

    How about a 5K?

  27. over the past few months of a total witch hunt on the industry and college doctors I think it is clear these are very small problems compared to other issues in the industry.

    thoughts?

  28. nature55- The folks that you mentioned may want to rebrand themselves and find their altruistic side. What about if we ask them to sponsor the Pharmalot 5K?

  29. yo yo yo playas,, we in the pharma lot hizzie. miss ya lots hugs and kisses y’all peace out till the next time

  30. To all of you junkies who are missing your Pharmalot fix, me among them, may I direct your attention to Ms. Evelyn Pringle’s oh-so-amusing fisking of DrugWonks?

The FDA Guerillas of Wonky DrugWonks - Part I

The FDA Guerillas of Wonky DrugWonks - Part II

Many, many thanks to the irrepressible Jack Friday of Pharmagossip for the tip!

  31. Thanks, harpy. I’d seen EP’s piece, but I think she outdid herself this time, at least as far as the writing. Juicy stuff.

  32. Harpy - thanks.

    Vacations are for wimps!

  33. Looks like Bob F. missed it (the pool), but only by about one night — see the floated pre-emption post, above this — floated on Friday night, at some point.

Hurry back Ed, we miss you!

But, that said, do fully-enjoy the wilds of Maine. . . .

    Cheers!

  34. I also noticed that Bob barely missed. But I’m guessing Ed may have made the decision sometime on Thursday, which means he would have nailed it.

Too bad he’s out of touch at Betty Ford’s.

  35. Just lurking in the background, Justice. Much too much work for the new semester.

There’s a large pink elephant sitting on my couch.

  36. Yo, Bob! Good to see you! Wanna watch the Olympics? L’chaim!

  37. Hey! Have anyone here been to the Caribbean at charlisangels adult vacations resort?

  38. well this is useful… (at least for me)

    very thanks
