Pfizer Wins The Prize For The Creepiest Ad

The drugmaker may not attract many shareholders with its animal health business, but it found an interesting way to promote one of its products - the Canex All Wormer for Dogs. In this arresting ad, the impression is to leave you guessing whether that poor little boy is feeding Fido or, in reality, all those worms creeping around inside the pooch. “Who do you take care of” asks the ad.
To us, however, it appears the worm may skip the bowl of dog chow and go straight for the little boy.

Even at Halloween this ad is very dodgy. Golden labrador puppies and toilet rolls are one thing, but nematodes on ‘roids’ are bad news.
Most people outside the industry can’t make the connection between feeding their beloved dog (I have one) and the parasite that lives within it. In other words, this ad will struggle to connect with most people and perhaps scare more than it converts.
Ugly.

Not available for sale in the U.S. that I can find. Maybe from vets. The commercial is from Finland. I’ve found Europeans have a greater tolerance for the weird than Americans - we’re too conventional.
