A Speaking We Will Go….

public-speakingPardon the interruption this afternoon, but believe it or not, we have again been asked to talk about what we do - you know, covering pharma and this new media world in which we live. Who asked us this time? Well, if you must know, it is….a big drugmaker. Which one? Guess correctly, and we will send you a Pharmalot t-shirt. Seriously. We have a trunk full. However, we should point out that, no, we are not paid for this activity, although we will accept a cup of stimulation. Wish us luck and see you shortly…

  6. I am going with Dan, my guess is Merck.

  7. I will go with GSK

  8. Im w/Fred,…. Pfizer.

  9. My vote goes to Lilly

  10. I guess Schering Plough.

    maybe Lilly

  11. I’m voting….Pfizer

  12. Roche, it’s Roche!

  13. The filthy bastards at GlaxoSmithKline

  14. Your’e back,.. Care to Kiss and Tell!

  15. Sanofi-Aventis!!!!!

  16. Ed,

How about AMGEN? They never listen to me! Don’t forget your hidden camera and lapel button mike.

If you get more than a lot of phony smiles and humongous rhetoric, please feel comfortable in sharing it with us.

PS/ Tell Kevin I said hello. That will definitely get you a cold five minute stare and a personal escort out the door. Otherwise, it should be smooth sailing. Also, don’t forget to take one of their free Enbrel pens. Maybe Kevin will use it to sign your “guest pass”.

Oh, don’t be worried about the company pit bulls. They are quite friendly as long as you don’t have eye to eye contact.

Also, make sure you compliment Kevin on his excellent choice of paintings, especially his Custer prize possession.

  17. Late to this party, not many options left. How about Novo Nordisk?

  18. Care to give us a hint? Is it North, South, East or West of the Pharmalot Headquarters?

  19. Pfizer

    I’d wear the shirt!

  20. Lets see, Pfizer.

    Tell them with to…..

  21. I will go with Abbott Laboratories.

  22. Just want the t-shirt. I have two that say ‘Pfired’ and the date that Blue decided to leave Ann Arbor. Valuable historical artifact.

Will consider trade with draft choices.

  23. BTW, my draft choice is Smithwicks.

  24. I’ll go with JnJ

  25. Even before clicking on this post and seeing the other comments, I had decided Johnson & Johnson. Why? Because I spoke about blogging at their Global Communications Conference one month ago. Their interest is growing in this new media.

  26. Wyeth

  27. J&J!!

  28. Any truth in the rumor that Pharmalot is looking to relocate to roomier premises, and perchance was that on the agenda today?

    (Large please)

  29. Going J&J (at a stretch it might be GSK)

  30. Hi Folks,

Since it is now nearly midnight back here in the nation’s medicine chest, I thought it might be a good time to say the guessing game is over. The lucky winners will be contacted for mailing addresses and, yes, I will actually send honest-to-goodness Pharmalot t-shirts, which sport the spiffy Pharmalot logo. Perfect for, well, just about anything. No charge involved. Meanwhile, I want to thank those of you who took the time to guess. I never expected so many responses.

    Best
    ed

  31. May I please have a t-shirt even if my guess was wrong? Would love to wear it the next time I visit the State House in Trenton,… You just never know whom one might run into.

  32. Boo - I missed the game! Are you going to tell us the correct answer? Are t-shirts available for purchase? I’ll plunk down some filthy lucre for one.

BTW, my draft choice is Smithwicks.

All the more reason to like you, Justice, IMHO.

  33. It would have to be Merck……Good luck

  34. Wyeth…

  35. Harpy - Thank God it’s not Harp-y. In any case, Ed is either in the hole for a lot of t-shirts or a round at the pub.

I thought t-shirts were a joke. Of well.

  36. Schering

  37. All this secrecy! It’s worse than trying to guess who Obama will pick nexct!

Has Ed been offered a corporate mouthpiece job at one of these pharma companies, where he’ll take over or start up the blogging function?

    Inquiring minds want to know!

  38. Would like to have one of your t-shirts if you are have any left.

  39. Put me in for Sanofi. I wear a medium t-shirt.

    Les

  40. Hi John,

Sorry for the secrecy. I was just trying to have a little fun by making this into a guessing game.

The correct answer was…Pfizer. And I was asked to speak to their global communications and policy folks, who also heard from the gentleman who runs Sermo.

I’ve spoken a number of times - the NY/NJ chapter of the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society; the Association of Health Care Journalists NY chapter; Sanofi-Aventis policy and communications people; the NJ Chapter of the American Association of Indian Pharmaceutical Scientists; the Healthcare Compliance Packaging Council; a DTC Perspectives conference, and the recent Pharma Compliance Congress in Washington DC.

I’m sure I’ve forgotten something, but I often note these little activities on the site. Nothing new or special. There’s simply a desire to hear more about covering pharma and the new media.

I would like to note that I don’t receive payment or travel expenses, for those who would believe otherwise.

Anyway, t-shirts will be going out shortly. Thanks to all who gave this a go. And no promises, but if I have extras, I will try to accommodate those who guessed incorrectly, too. But only if I have enough - this will have to be all or nothing because I don’t want anyone to feel snubbed. Right now, only those who picked Pfizer are definitely getting a shirt.

    All best
    ed

  41. Ed,

Dont you just love a “Mother’s Intuition”,…. It will never steer you wrong.!! and I look foward to receiving my Pharmalot T-Shirt….

  42. I am crushed Pfizer was my initial thought but then I thought I remembered that you had just interviewed the CEO and said Pfizer can’t be right; oh well.

  43. I think you have a real market here if you choose to pursue it, Ed.

    Good fun. Thanks.

    :)
