Not movie stars and athletes. Instead, business leaders are found to be the most persuasive when it comes to endorsing a product, according to an AdweekMedia/Harris Poll. Unfortunately, there was no specific breakdown to say whether this included folks who run Wall Street firms, big banks or hedge funds (although they certainly have persuasive powers over some members of Congress).
In any event, business leaders had the highest “most persuasive” vote at 37 percent, followed by athletes with 21 percent, TV and movie stars at 18 percent, singers and musicians with 14 percent and former political figures scoring 10 percent, AdWeek writes. In fact, former politicians were “least persuasive,” garngering 39 percent of the vote. TV and movie stars notched 23 percent, followed by business leaders at 14 percent, athletes at 13 percent and singers and musicians with 11 percent.
The “most persuasive” tally for business leaders was vastly higher among the poll’s 55-and-older cohort - 46 percent- than it was among the 18-34-year-olds, with 28 percent, AdWeek notes. Athletes won their best score among the 18-34s, getting 24 percent of that age group’s “most persuasive” vote and 12 percent of its “least persuasive” mentions, the mag continues.
Other tidbits: The 35-44-year-olds were most likely to view former politicos as least persuasive in ads 45 percent, although that opinion was shared by all age groups. TV and movie stars had a higher “least persuasive” than “most persuasive” ranking, largely due to skepticism among the 45-54-year-olds and those older than 55. Singers and musicians received the lowest “least persuasive” total in the poll, and also got the second-lowest “most persuasive” vote.

It has gotten to the point where I can’t stand celebrities that do TV ads for drug companies.
A good example is Sally Fields. I used to adore her but since learning how much money she makes hawking Boniva, I won’t even watch a movie or TV series with her in.
