Hello, everyone. Nice to see you again. The middle of the week is upon us and, of course, this means trudging through those meetings and projects. But we are prepared. A cup of stimulation is already in hand. What about you? As you brace for another day, here are a few items to help you along. We hope it is a good one. Catch you soon…

The Pfizer employee probably commited suicide,.. Hmmm murder/suicide, could he have had a zoloft moment,Yes?
ol cranky
Lisa:
I think there have already been a couple of suicides (one which was a murder suicide) by staff that had been Pfizered due to the acquisition. Like other [non-pharma] suicides related to job loss and the economy to even jokingly insinuate they are due to an anti-depressant (vis-a-vis your beliefs about psych meds) is in poor tastes.
This being said, unless the employee was in senior management or the murder is thought to somehow be related to the suspect’s employment, the reference to the suspect being a Pfizer employee is gratuitous and unwarranted.

Well,.. Ol Cranky, you have excersized your right to free speach, so please allow me to do the same. I’ll keep in mind, of the fact, that you are a pharma rep, and with that said, I will say this, on Aug 9 of this year my father died of a self inflicted gunshot to the head. No Joke here. So Lady, I have earned my right to speak in poor taste. whether you, or others, like it or not.
AA
Lisa,
I am so sorry to hear that about your father. I can’t imagine the pain you must feel.

Lisa Van Syckel
Thank You, AA. Im sure ole cranky is still trying to figure out how to pull her foot out of her mouth
ol cranky
Poor form Lisa. No need to pull my foot from my mouth as it wasn’t in there. As you well know from our conversation 1.5 years ago I am not now, nor have I ever been a sales rep.
My condolences about your father. I find it sad that you, as someone whose friends & family has dealt with considerable mental health issues would make fun of an innocent woman being murdered by a stalker and turn it into a case against meds that have helped many people handle their mental illness despite their lack of relation to the case. I can’t wait for your encore where you laugh hysterically at the pharma staff that have committed suicide recently over job loss - that should be a laugh-riot!
While I agree that there is a big problem with over-prescription and am acutely aware of SmithKline’s abhorrent obfuscation of increased suicidal ideation in the paxil trials (seriously, when will the rest of that info be made public??!?), I find it reprehensible that some people seem to insist that all mental health issues are related to drugs being used to treat underlying mental health issues.
Lisa Van Syckel
Ole Cranky,
First of all, I never said you were a sales rep., I said Pharma rep. Which means you have worked in the area of Pharma. Now I could have stated your job profile, but I didnt, as, I didnt want to potentially reveal your identity, and was making a genuine attempt to be respectful.
You stated,” I find it sad that you, as someone whose friends and family has dealt with considerable mental health issues”
I am absolutely sure that my friends and family would beg to differ with you on that. What I find reprehensible is that you, a non medical professional, who has never met my friends and family, could make such an irresponsible, widespread psychiatric diagnosis of people you have never met.
And Lastly, in May of 1979 my girlfriend was raped and murdered the night of her Senior Prom, her killer has never been found. So to answer your wise ass remark,.. no, I dont find the death of any human being “funny”
It has been reported by this man’s mother that he was being treated for a mental illnes, so one of two things happened,.. his treatment was not effective, or the treatment induced his violent behaviour. I suggest we allow a Jury of his peers to decide his fate,.. yes.
ol cranky
I think it goes with out saying that in labeling me as a pharma rep, you implied I am in sales/marketing. I do conduct clinical research, I am not a representative of the pharma industry. You do yourself and your cause a disservice by summarily disregarding statements of people who have certain experiences that you don’t personally approve of, you also do yourself a disservice by stating things in a way that implies something is different than what it really is.
you’re kidding me, right? you stated that your father committed suicide recently and, since you didn’t indicate his decision to do so was related to a logical rationale (i.e., end-stage terminal illness) thereby leaving one to logically conclude the suicide/suicidal ideation was due to mental/emotional duress. Do you not agree that suicidal ideation under those sorts of circumstances is a significant mental health issue? Additionally, you’ve posted and discussed specific cases of people you know personally in your attacks against all things pharma. That’s not me making making psychiatric diagnoses.
Please, you have some very legitimate concerns about the inappropriate use and overuse of psychoactive drugs and some equally legitimate gripes about the pharma industry, don’t undermine those by creating unnecessary drama and creating spurious arguments/links to support your campaign.
Lisa Van Syckel
Ole Cranky,
I could have revealed your identity, but I chose to respect “YOUR WISHES” to stay anonymous. Again, I never implied you were a sales rep.
My father had endstage cancer, along with a change in medications, just two days prior to his suicide.
You logically concluded, gee look who is callin the kettle black.Time to end this discussion dont you think. You are taking this wat too personally
