Robert John Dougall, 44, a former vice president for market development at J&J’s DePuy unit, was charged in connection with payments made or inducements given to medical professionals working in the Greek public health care system between 2002 and 2005, according to the UK Serious Fraud Office. The investigation remains ongoing and no further details were provided.

Two years ago, Johnson & Johnson disclosed that unspecified foreign subsidiaries may have made improper payments in some unnamed countries related to the sale of medical devices. And J&J acknowledged the payments may fall within the jurisdiction of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. So the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission were notified. Michael Dormer, the global head of devices and diagnostics, retired at the time of the disclosure (background).
