Russia’s antitrust regulator is investigating Novo Nordisk for refusing to sign contracts with some customers without any justification and for creating discriminatory conditions for potential business partners that may be anticompetitive, Law360 reports. The Danish drugmaker denied any wrongdoing.
The move comes shortly after the Danish drugmaker announced plans to invest up to $100 million to build an insulin plant as part of a wave of interest by the pharmaceutical industry in expanding in Russia (back story). Not so coincidentallly, the Federal Antimonopoly Service head Igor Artemyev just last month indicated his own increased interest in fighting cartels and natural monopolies, and mentioned pharmaceuticals as an important market to regulate.
