On the Vytorin®/Zetia® story — out of New Zealand:
Of course, this “wider access” comes at a cost (to Merck):
Merck has agreed to accept one half of its earlier selling prices, for the medicines — in New Zealand.
This means Merck will need to sell between six and eight times as much Vytorin® and Zetia®, branded as Ezetrol®, in New Zealand, just to break even on the deal.
Ouch.
